Newly appointed Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner Marc Spitzer was interviewed by the Arizona Daily Star and gave this answer to the question "What challenges does FERC face?":
"We need to build power plants and transmission lines...There is a proposal to bring clean, cheap energy to New York City.... It's a no-brainer, but there is opposition to the transmission line..."
The (only!) five-member FERC board may have the perrogative to approve the NYRI project.
